The Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging (WRAAA) covers Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, and Medina counties, offering benefits counseling, care coordination, funding for congregate and home-delivered meals, caregiver support, long-term care options counseling, and administration of the Region 10A Long-Term Care Ombudsman program. It does not cover Summit or Portage counties, which fall under a different agency, Direction Home Akron Canton.
How this actually works
WRAAA functions as the front door to a wide range of aging services across five of this site's seven counties, from meal programs to waiver assessments to benefits counseling for Medicare and Medicaid questions.
Because WRAAA also administers the Region 10A ombudsman program, a family's first call to the agency can end up connecting them to multiple layers of support, care coordination, a PASSPORT or Assisted Living Waiver assessment, and ombudsman advocacy, through one point of contact.
The territorial boundary matters, though: a family in Aurora or Solon searching by county name might assume WRAAA applies, when in fact Summit and Portage counties are served by an entirely separate agency, Direction Home Akron Canton.
